One of the marquee events of the year for Mariners Christian School was held Friday, March 30, 2012 when the school hosted its annual Spring Benefit and Auction at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach.
With the theme of “Unfathomable,” the program will help fund a “Treasure Chest of Improvements,” including iPads for teachers, golf practice nets, a rubberized outdoor play surface and a shade cover in addition to other academic and extracurricular programs, as well.
Chair Leanne Sheward, parent andNewport Beachresident, was in her second year in this role and was amazed at the turnout, where more guests attended than in any previous year.
Head of School, Bob Sladek was equally impressed with the festivities.
“It was an amazing evening,” Sladek said. “The Balboa Bay Club is a great place to hold the event. The people who attended had a fantastic time and the money raised will go to help out several programs at the school.”
The silent auction had sports packages, like tickets to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks hockey game, a two year lease on a brand new car, football signed by USC quarterback Matt Barkley (an MCS Alumnus), and a pink scooter.
Dinner and dancing followed the event and the attendees expressed how well the event went and how they look forward to returning next year.
Established in 1987, Mariners Christian School, which is located in Costa Mesa, serves some 630 kindergarten through eighth-grade students. The Blue Ribbon school’s mission is to “build a firm foundation through Christ-centered education” by partnering with parents daily in the spiritual and academic development of their children.
